Jason Anderson’s Obituary

Jason Eugene Anderson, 55, of Leander, TX, took his last, peaceful breath on February 23, 2025 after 21 months of living courageously with stomach cancer.

Jason was born in Pomona, CA on December 30, 1969, to Harold and Leah Faye Huie Anderson. He primarily grew up in Susanville, CA and spent his childhood exploring the Lassen National Forest, which his family’s home backed up to.

Jason’s life can best be summed up by the people and things he loved.

He deeply loved his wife, Beth Norris Anderson, whom he married in January 2000. They shared passions for great sci-fi (both understanding that Star Trek is superior to Star Wars), amazing fantasy audiobooks (listened to on road trips), excellent cocktails (many from Leanderthal Distilling), and, especially in the time after his diagnosis, travel. This past December, Jason and Beth had a beautiful vow renewal in advance of their official 25th anniversary on January 15.

Jason loved his kids, Ana (19) and Eli (16). He excelled at making them laugh. He introduced them to the music he loved, and they’re now both musicians. He loved playing video games with them. Jason taught his kids the value of taking care of your stuff, working hard, following your heart, and having fun. He was so very proud of them—who they were as children and who they’re becoming as they enter adulthood.

Jason loved his job in a way few people do. He worked for Carollo Engineers for the entire 29 years of his career as a Professional Engineer. He considered his colleagues to be family, and they feel the same about him.

Jason loved guitars—and we can’t forget the pedal collection he so carefully curated to use with his electric guitars! Whether playing a Pink Floyd riff or leading worship for the unhoused, he took so much joy in playing.

Jason loved his city, where he’d lived since 2007. He served on various boards and commissions for the City of Leander, including the Planning and Zoning Commission and the Brushy Creek Regional Utility Authority Board.

He loved mechanical watches, F1 racing, cycling, swimming, Volkswagens, craft IPAs, and jamming to ‘80’s music.

Jason crammed a lot of loving—and a lot of living—into his 55 years, 1 month, and 24 days of life. All of us who loved him wish earnestly we could have had him here longer.

In addition to his wife and kids, Jason is survived by his siblings, Darlene, Kathy, John, and Cheryl; his stepfather, Dick; his uncle, John; many nieces and nephews; his miniature schnauzer, Ollie; and his grand-snake, Myrtle.

Those who welcomed him to Heaven include his much-loved parents, along with grandparents, aunts, and uncles.

A memorial service will be held at RockPointe Church, Leander, TX, on Saturday, March 1, 2025 at 1:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to education funds for his kids, generously created by the engineering community he was part of, at carolbethanderson.com/donate.
